About the PTLG – Parent Teacher Leadership Group
The PTLG evolved from what was originally the Parent Council. It serves three main functions:
- Coordination of volunteers and parent led activities
- Communication between parents and school faculty/administration
- Scheduling of parent education
Committee Coordinators Duties:
PTLG CO-Chairs – Rachel Dwiggins-Beeler AND Karen Annison
- Scheduling and attending all monthly PTLG Meetings
- Notifying Committee Coordinators and parents of upcoming meetings
- Creating and publishing meeting agenda
- Distributing all communication and meeting minutes to EPMS administration, committee coordinators and parents
- Acting as liaison to EPMS Director and Administrator
- Assisting committee coordinators as needed
- Ensuring that each committee is represented by a Committee Coordinator and that adequate number of parent volunteers are available to help each program run smoothly
- Updating PTLG contact list
- Additional tasks as directed by EPMS Administrator
PTLG Secretary (Note-taker)
- Attending all monthly PTLG meetings
- Taking notes during the meeting
- Typing and emailing the notes to the PTLG Chairperson for distribution
Volunteer Coordinator – Bob Chyr
- Coordinating with the PTLG Committee Chairs, Coordinators and Room Parents the volunteer requests throughout the School.
- Organizing weekly information for the Friday Folder regarding volunteer requests.
- Communicating reminders to parents of Events and their obligation to complete their volunteer hours, ways they can do this and what counts.
- Attending monthly PTLG meetings.
Office Volunteers Coordinator –
- Coordinating volunteers to do light clerical work, filling/emptying Friday Folders
- Submitting to the office a monthly schedule
- Attending monthly PTLG Meetings
Staff Appreciation Luncheon Coordinator – Tyler Snortum-Phelps
- Providing snacks for staff meeting each Wednesday
- Providing annual lunches (Fall, Winter/Holiday, Spring) for the Wednesday staff meetings
Staff Appreciation Activities Coordinator- Camille Mahood
- Arranging the National Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week activities
- Collecting money from all families wishing to be included in the end-of-year staff gift cards
- Attending monthly PTLG Meetings
Room Parent – The Room Parent is a volunteer position for each classroom and its duties are up to the individual teachers. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinating volunteer work specific to one classroom
- Attending monthly PTLG Meetings as a classroom representative
- Serving as a liaison between the teachers and parents of that classroom
- Assisting teachers in coordinating volunteers or classroom donations
- Occasionally helping in coordinating volunteers with special projects that require additional supervision (e.g. coking or art class)
Carpool Coordinator – A.M. / P.M.
- Recruiting and scheduling parents to assist with carpool
- Submitting to the office a monthly schedule
- Attending monthly PTLG Meetings
Lunch/Recess Volunteer Coordinator -Beth Hunter
- Recruiting and scheduling parents to assist with lunch/recess
- Submitting to the office a monthly schedule
- Attending monthly PTLG Meetings
Parent Education Program Coordinator -Joanne Finn
- Planning educational events for parents based on parents and staff interest, request and availability of speakers.
- Scheduling events in accordance with school calendar and other events
- Communicating dates to Administration for publication in the Friday Folder
- Attending monthly PTLG Meetings
Maintenance Coordinator –
- Recruiting and scheduling parents to help with routine maintenance
- Scheduling work parties
- Attending monthly PTLG Meetings
